About Shadow Jumpscare

Shadow Jumpscare renders a single horrifying image against pure OLED black (#000000). The image is scaled as large as your display allows while keeping its original aspect ratio. On OLED panels the surrounding pixels are truly off — the image appears to float in absolute darkness. Go fullscreen, hand the device to someone unsuspecting, and enjoy the reaction. Press ESC to exit immediately if things go too far.

How to use it

    Open the page

    You'll see a small thumbnail preview — this is intentional so you don't scare yourself while browsing.

  2. 02

    Go fullscreen

    Press F or click the fullscreen icon. The horrifying image fills your entire screen on pure black.

  3. 03

    Hand it to someone

    Lock the device orientation, place it on a desk or prop it up, and wait for your victim.

  4. 04

    Exit quickly

    Press ESC or click the minimize button at any time to return to the normal page.

Read before you scare. Know your audience, respect boundaries.

Is this safe for my screen?

Yes. It's just a web page displaying an image on a black background. No pixel damage, no burn-in risk for normal use durations.

Can this cause real harm?

Jumpscares can trigger a startle reflex — elevated heart rate, adrenaline spike, involuntary movement. Do not use on people with heart conditions, epilepsy, PTSD, anxiety disorders, or anyone who has asked you not to.

What age group is appropriate?

These images are intense. Not recommended for young children. Use judgment for teenagers and adults — know your audience.

Can I exit instantly?

Yes. ESC exits fullscreen immediately. The minimize button in the top-right corner also works. There's no lock-in, no delay.

Does this work on OLED and LCD equally?

The scare works on both, but OLED panels give a stronger effect because the surrounding pixels are physically off — pure black — making the image appear to float in a void.

Any tips for maximum scare?

Full brightness. Fullscreen. Dark room. Victim should not suspect anything. Place the device where they'll naturally look, then walk away.
